Frontal vs. Closure: Which One Is Right for Your Next Install?

Frontal vs. Closure: Which One Is Right for Your Next Install?

Choosing between a frontal and a closure is the biggest decision you’ll make before your hair appointment. At Thee Slay Way, we want you to love your look and your lifestyle, so let’s break down the differences.

What is a Closure? A closure (usually 4x4 or 5x5 inches) sits right in the middle of your head. It’s designed to close off an install with a realistic-looking part.

  • The Pros: Very low maintenance. You don’t need glue to make it look good, and it’s perfect for "glueless" wigs.

  • The Cons: You are limited to one or two parting styles.

What is a Frontal? A frontal goes from ear to ear (13x4 or 13x6 inches), covering your entire hairline.

  • The Pros: Maximum versatility! You can pull your hair back into a ponytail, do a deep side part, or half-up-half-down styles.

  • The Cons: High maintenance. It usually requires adhesive (glue) and needs to be "reset" every 2–3 weeks as your hair grows.
