The Ultimate SlayWay Hair Care Guide

Congratulations on your new install! To ensure your Thee SlayWay bundles remain silky, bouncy, and lustrous for the next 1–2 years, follow this professional maintenance routine.

1. Pre-Installation: The Foundation

Before your stylist installs your hair, we recommend co-washing the bundles.

  • Co-Wash: Rinse the hair under lukewarm water and apply a high-quality, moisture-rich conditioner.

  • Detangle: Use a wide-tooth comb or a Denman brush starting from the ends and working your way up to the weft.

  • Air Dry: Rinse thoroughly and hang the hair to air dry. Never install soaking wet hair, as it can lead to a "musty" smell later.

2. Daily Maintenance: Stay Flawless

  • Brushing: Use a paddle brush or wide-tooth comb twice a day. Always start at the tips and work toward the roots to minimize tension on the wefts.

  • Product Usage: Less is more! Avoid heavy oils or greases, which cause "limp" hair and product buildup. For shine, use a tiny pea-sized amount of a high-quality Argan oil or Biosilk.

  • Heat Protection: Always apply a heat protectant spray before using flat irons or curling wands. Try to keep heat settings below 380°F to prevent heat damage.

3. The Nightly Routine (Crucial!)

Never go to sleep on wet hair—this causes severe matting.

  • The Wrap: For straight hair, wrap it around your head. For wavy/curly hair, put it in 2 large loose braids or a "pineapple" ponytail.

  • The Protection: Wear a Satin or Silk Bonnet/Scarf. Friction from cotton pillowcases strips the hair of moisture and causes frizz.

4. Weekly Washing & Conditioning

If you use products daily, your hair will need a deep clean every 1–2 weeks.

  • Shampoo: Use a Sulfate-Free shampoo. Sulfates are harsh chemicals that strip moisture, making the hair brittle.

  • Deep Condition: Apply conditioner and let it sit for at least 20–30 minutes (you can even use a plastic cap). This restores the "bounce" and shine.

  • The Rinse: Always rinse with cool water to seal the hair cuticles and lock in the shine.

5. Special Care for Lace (Frontals & Closures)

Lace is delicate and mimic the human scalp.

  • Don't Scratch: Scratching your head through the lace will cause "balding" (hair loss on the lace).

  • Gentle Cleaning: Use a soft toothbrush to gently clean makeup or glue buildup from the lace edge.

  • Professional Help: We highly recommend having a professional stylist handle any bleaching of knots or plucking to avoid tearing the lace.

The "SlayWay" Golden Rule:

Treat this hair like it’s growing from your own scalp. The more love and hydration you give it, the longer it will stay "slayed."
